Region of Atacama |
III the Region, Region of Atacama is located in the north of the country and it extends between 25° 17´ and 29° 11´ of South latitude and from 68° 17´ of west longitude to the Pacific Ocean. As opposed to this Region the islands are located San Felix, San Ambrosio, Pasena and Room and Go'mez, those that depend administratively on the Fifth Region of Valparaiso. Administratively the Region is divided in three provinces, Copiapó, Chañaral and Huasco.
The Region of Atacama is defined by the predominance of the semi-arid climate, characterized being less rigorous than in the north, due to the gradual increase towards the south of winter precipitation. From Boiler to the south it is appraised a gradual increase of the humidity and reduction of the average temperatures

The Region of Atacama counts on privileged resources that can explode , characterizing itself by attractive in the coastal sector, its valleys, and the desert and mountain.
All their attractiveness grants the conditions for offering recreational tourism, of rural adventure and, transforming altogether into new alternatives respect to the traditional tourist supply, like for example, the phenomenon of the flowery desert, which appears generally every six years, attracting Chilean and foreign tourists.
COASTAL SECTOR
In the coastal zone, the Region presents/displays great attractive, emphasizing white sand beaches warm, waters, I am transparent and of little surge in the zone of the Port of Boiler, where is English Bay and extraordinary beaches such as Ramada, Roller, Brave, Mansa and Loreto. Their climatic conditions allow that this zone is a propitious place to rest the year throughout.
SECTOR VALLEYS OF HUASCO And COPIAPÓ

In the Region the greater mountainous chain of the country is, with heights that surpass the 6,000 meters, on the level of the sea, in the heat of Mountain range of The $andes. This grants conditions apt for the practice of the montañismo, in the period of October to May. The existing summits are the volcano Eyes of the Salty one with 6,893 mts, considered highest of the country and the world, and great attractive for montañistas experts.
In the North end of the regional coast is the Port of Chañaral, which is the departure point.
