The luxurious Alto Atacama Desert is a country house and spa tucked away in a private location in a peaceful and beautiful valley that is only 10 minutes drive north of downtown San Pedro de Atacama. The hostel is located in the shadow of the Pukará de Quitor and the San Pedro River, which meanders discreetly. The Alto Atacama seeks to open the eyes of a traveler, to explore the desert, to feel and absorb the impressive landscape, to connect and have cultural encounters, and to return revitalised and changed by an authentic experience that will never forget.
The rooms at the Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa are spacious and comfortable, all well equipped to soothe your body after an action-packed day. The decor is simple but elegant; Local handicrafts have been installed not only as part of the decoration, but also as part of the spirit of the rooms. There are a total of 42 rooms equipped with a mini fridge, hairdryer, safe and private terrace. There are 10 suites that include all the amenities and services along with a private outdoor patio with an additional outdoor shower, minibar and a breathtaking view of the lagoon. The hostel has its own Puri Spa where guests are invited to relax, enjoy, and to recharge their body and mind in a peace-filled spa where the natural elements of the earth work their own magic. Despite being the driest desert in the world, the glacial snow water is what makes San Pedro de Atacama an oasis, and makes the Spa a strong revitalising experience.
The spa has a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, Scottish showers, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, among others.
The hostel offers approximately 30 adventure tours and the opportunity to interact with local natives, encouraging guests to enjoy their cultural surroundings as well as their natural surroundings. Excursions include bike rides, volcano hikes, photographic safaris, picnics and visits to the geyser fields or hot springs, and much more. Cultural experiences include interaction with staff, half of whom are indigenous and are more than willing to share their culture, history and stories with you.
